Goodreads Synopsis :

It began as an assignment for English class: write a letter to a dead person.

Laurel chooses Kurt Cobain because her sister, May, loved him. And he died young, just like May. Soon, Laurel has a notebook full of letters to the dead-to people like Janis Joplin, Heath Ledger, Amelia Earhart, and Amy Winehouse-though she never gives a single one of them to her teacher. She writes about starting high school, navigating the choppy waters of new friendships, learning to live with her splintering family, falling in love for the first time, and, most important, trying to grieve for May. But how do you mourn for someone you haven’t forgiven?

It’s not until Laurel has written the truth about what happened to herself that she can finally accept what happened to May. And only when Laurel has began to see her sister as the person she was-lovely and amazing and deeply flawed-can she truly start to discover her own path.

Books Worth Reading:

Things I loved about this book :
1. The concept of letters.
I have always been fascinated about letters. And when it says to the dead , it was just what I needed.

2. The in-depth expression of Laurels thoughts.
The writer gave justice to Laurels character, by the means of the pain she was dealing was very reflective in her words.
I was pained because I was understanding what Laurel was dealing with.

3. Element of Diversity with Lesbian couple.
Very nicely touched. It is still a stereotype to have been able to inhale, the existing LGPT+
People are not accepting of the fact that someone is a lesbian or Gay.
And to this fact , nicely acknowledge that it is not easy to step away from the shoes of society.

4. Characters.
Every character was brilliantly written. Every one had their flaws and their positives.
I was so much engaged with every ones crisis.
Tristen , despite being seen as a jerk was someone with in depth explanation of life and crisis. Which I enjoyed.
And of course, Sky was the charm as he was the one who was in crisis and truly understood Laurel.
Laurels father was amazing. I disliked her mother though.

5. Loved how Laurel , transformed as an individual.
She realised that she is enough for herself and there isn’t any need to be someone else i.e her sister, May

Books Worth Reading:

Things that could have been better :
1. The whole letter writing to plenty of individuals was very annoying sometimes, because half of the time, the reader was not able to get hold of them.
Because of this reason I thought this book could have been better.
2. I felt a bit disconnected in the middle because of a lot celebrity condition.

***
This book made my tears fall in the first ten pages.
There was a continuous lump in my throat, while reading it.
And the story was too sad. I had to put it down every little while.

It stayed with me long after reading it.

For every ‘ Perks of Being A Wallflower ‘ Fan.

HAPPY READING!
